Otherwise called The City of Good Living, San Carlos is in the middle of the San Francisco Bay Area. With San Francisco itself just 25 miles up north and San Jose of the same distance down south, and Stanford at nearby Palo Alto, everything basically is at its doorstep.

Events and Celebrations
Hometown Days carnival is celebrated May of each year at the Burton Park, the city’s largest park. It is an event run completely by volunteers and supported by the generous donations of the community. It gathers the community at large together promoting a spirit of solidarity while providing a venue for fundraising and community outreach, and at the same time offering an annual event of wholesome family entertainment.
One of the peninsula’s anticipated fall festivals is the San Carlos Chamber of Commerce’s Arts & Wine Festival which takes place in the city every October. At its 21st this year, the festival boasts of the participation of excellent wine vendors, prolific artists and an ever engaging band performances. They even hosted 90s alternative/pop artist Lisa Loeb this year.
Nature Treats
Recently, San Carlos became a destination for people who want to trek the Eaton-Big Canyon Trail. This offers a new healthy activity both to San Carlos residents and its visitors.This is one prime of example of the abundance of open spaces in the area which is very soothing to anyone who wish to unwind and breath fresh air.
